24/06/03 Hi Club Members Sorry it has been so long since we spoke but like everyone else I am super busy with training, work and family - not necessarily in that order. The tri season is now over with the last race being Byron with some of our members making the trip south. Before Byron, however, was the Club Championships at Redcliffe raced by 4 of our athletes, culminating in Yeronga coming 4th in Group C. Congratulations go to those who raced at these races and also at the Brisbane Marathon. Since then we have had the Tour de Darling Downs with 15 members and 4 ring ins taking on the challenge. The weather was perfect sunshine & just a little cool of a morning. A special mention goes to Jeanette & Kylee who had never cycled that far (156km) in one day. The first day (Saturday) was just a little longer than the calculation I had made from the map! Camp Mellon is on again this year on the 26th & 27th July, kindly organised, as always, by Roger Carter. Please phone or e-mail Robyn Brandon to RSVP and for information about Camp Mellon. $30 is the approximate cost per person. The AGM is on again on the Tuesday night before the Ekka Wednesday public holiday (August 12). This year it will be held at Viva Italia, Mt Gravatt Central. Cost $25 paid to the club prior to the night i.e. as soon as possible. Don't forget to choose a mascot name for our club to be selected at the AGM. If you have anything you would like advertised on our website, please forward it to one of our committee members and it will posted on the site. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the people going over to view the real Tour (de France) a safe and happy holiday. Come along to the AGM and tell us your stories! The club rides are listed on the website and will be updated as we go. They still leave Yeronga Pool at 6am. Happy & safe training Rowan |
